Jogira Sara Ra Ra Movie Review Rating: 2.5/5
Headlined by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neha Sharma, Jogira Sara Ra Ra is a romantic comedy film, directed by Kushan Nandy of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz (2017) fame. The trailer of the film received a mixed response from the audience. Will the film manage to attract audiences to cinemas? Or is it set to be another dud in Bollywood’s ever-increasing list of flops? BollywoodMDB reviewer has seen the film and here is what he has to say about the same. Read the detailed review here before booking your tickets.
STORY: Lucknow-based wedding planner Jogi Pratap (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) finds no joy in living with his mother (Zarina Wahab), sister Sarita (Suman Patel), his aunt, and a few other sisters. He does not want to marry because he cannot tolerate yet another woman in the family. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when Devki Nandan Chaubey (Bhagwan Tiwari) hires him to plan his daughter Dimple’s (Neha Sharma) wedding with Lallu Pandey (Mahaakshay Chakraborty). Dimple is not happy with this alliance and seeks help from Jogi to call off the wedding. When no idea works, Jogi fakes Dimple’s kidnapping. Dimple’s wedding with Lallu is cancelled but now Jogi is forced to marry Dimple. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
HIGHS & LOWS: Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a brilliant actor and he has done an incredible job once again. His character has many shades and the actor pulls it off with brilliance. His comic timing, as always, is spot-on. Neha Sharma as Dimple is endearing. The actress gets a good part and she does complete justice to it. She also has some great comic scenes which she performs with utmost ease. However, when it comes to Nawaz and Neha’s chemistry, it does not create any spark. That is one of the biggest let downs of the film. Zarina Wahab and Sanjay Mishra also deliver brilliant acts. Nikki Tamboli fails to leave any mark.
Talking about direction, Kushan Nandy creates a fun-filled world full of unending chaos and confusion. His direction is good but the same cannot be said about the storyline. There was enough scope to build a nuanced drama that tugs at your heartstrings but the film falls short of that. Some dialogues are genuinely funny while others turn out to be bland. Writer Ghalib Asad Bhopali tries to combine humour and chaos but succeeds partially.
FINAL VERDICT: Jogira Sara Ra Ra is funny but only in bits and parts. Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neha Sharma deliver fantastic performances but in the absence of a strong and engaging storyline, nothing seems to be working. The film is expected to find a better audience on OTT than in theatres. I am going with 2.5 stars.
