The Kerala Story Movie Review Rating: 3/5
Directed by Sudipto Sen, The Kerala Story has attracted a lot of attention over the past few days for its controversial storyline. The film is set against the backdrop of a true story of three women from different parts of Kerala. If you are planning to watch The Kerala Story in cinemas this weekend, take a look at what BollywoodMDB reviewer has to say about the same.
STORY: The Kerala Story reimagines the plight of three women affected by such incidents as love-jihad, brutal inhuman crimes such as rape, sex slavery, radicalisation, indoctrination, and ISIS recruitment. What eventually happens to them forms the crux of the story.
HIGHS & LOWS: The Kerala Story claims to be based on the true story of three women from different parts of Kerala. Now how factual the film is, is a different question, but when it comes to performances, Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani have delivered commendable performances. The film, however, turns out to be too melodramatic and manipulative at times.
Technically, the film is very strong. Right from VFX to background score, the team seems to have worked hard on every aspect.
FINAL VERDICT: The Kerala Story is a watchable film that compels you to think about whether what it says is true or not. The film is strong when it comes to performances. However, the same cannot be said about its storyline. I am going with 3 stars.
