John Abraham is one of the most loved names of Bollywood. The self-made star, who made his debut with the 2003 movie Jism, boasts a large fan following thanks to his serious performances, sculpted body and charming screen presence. The actor has worked with some of the industry's top filmmakers showing that he is a force to deal with. Here is a list of some of his much awaited flicks for 2022 and 2023.
1. Attack
Earlier, John Abraham took to his Instagram to announce the release date of his upcoming film Attack. Directed and written by debutant director Lakshya Raj Anand, the film is based on a genuine incident of a hostage situation. Abraham will be seen playing a lone ranger who leads an attack unit during a counter-offensive in the film. Attack also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez in key roles and is set to hit the screens on 1st April, 2022.
2. Ek Villain Returns
Next up on the list is Ek Villain Returns wherein John will be seen sharing the screen space with Arjun Kapoor. It is a sequel to the 2014 film, Ek Villain which starred Siddharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor. Helmed by Mohit Suri and produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, it is set to hit the big screens on the occasion of Eid, 2022. Ek Villain Returns also stars Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani in pivotal roles.
3. Pathan
Pathan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, is unquestionably one of Bollywood's most eagerly anticipated blockbusters. Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra, Pathan is a part of YRF's spy universe along with Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif's Tiger franchise and Hrithik Roshan's War. According to reports, King Khan will play the primary part of the hero, while John Abraham will portray the villain in the film. Pathan is slated to release on 15th August, 2022.
4. Ayyappanum Koshiyum Hindi remake
John Abraham will be seen sharing the screen with his Ek Villain Returns co-star Arjun Kapoor in this Jagan Shakti directorial. Known for Mission Mangal (2019), Jagan Shakti is set to direct the Hindi remake of the 2020 Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon, the action thriller was written and directed by Sachy of Anarkali fame. The plot centres around Ayyappan (Menon), a senior police officer of the Attappadi Police Station, and Havildar Koshi (Sukumaran), who arrives in the village with a purpose. John Abraham will take on the role that was played by Menon, while Arjun Kapoor will portray Sukumaran’s character. The project is untitled and the release date hasn't been announced yet.
5. Tehran
Abraham will be seen collaborating with Maddock Films for this upcoming flick. Badlapur (2015), Stree (2018), Bala (2020) , and Mimi (2021) are just a few of Maddock Films' iconic blockbusters and content-rich films. The action thriller Tehran starring John Abraham will be directed by Arun Gopalan and written by Ritesh Shah and Ashish Prakash Verma. The film is inspired by true events. Apart from John Abraham, the names of other cast members are still not announced. Tehran is slated to have a Republic Day release next year- 26 January 2023.
