The Gulshan Kumar biopic titled Mogul has faced inordinate delay in commencing production. The project was originally announced with Akshay Kumar, but the superstar walked out of it after a few months, leaving the makers in lurch.
Later, producer Bhushan Kumar roped in Aamir Khan to play his father, music baron Gulshan Kumar in the film. Mr. Perfectionist also opted out of the biopic when its director Subhash Kapoor's name was dragged into a case of sexual misconduct during the much-talked-about MeToo movement. However, he returned to the project after no evidence was found against Kapoor in the aforementioned case.
Bhushan Kumar talked about the much-delayed project recently, saying that it is still on the anvil, contrary to reports that it has been shelved. “We are not doing that film for business, we are doing it for emotions. It’s a story that we want to tell the world. It’s about the kind of hard work my father did. That film will happen for sure”, he told a leading publication.
He also went on to add, “We are yet to decide on that, but we will eventually move to that stage. Right now, Aamir sir has already announced that he is a part of the film but it has been delayed due to the lockdown. I think we will decide on the shoot schedule once Laal Singh Chaddha releases in April. Aamir sir usually starts a new film only after the release of his previous one. But here, there are many other factors, like COVID, that we have to fight."
Aamir Khan is currently gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated film Laal Singh Chaddha, co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan. Directed by Advait Chandan, the period drama is set to arrive on April 14, 2022.
