Adheera from KGF 2 is my most powerful onscreen look so far: Sanjay Dutt

KGF Chapter 2 (2022) starring Kannada superstar Yash has smashed all the records at the box office and is well on course to create history. The magnum opus had set a new record in advance booking and has now broken the box office records on day one of its release. As per reports, KGF 2 earned Rs 134.50 crore on its opening day.

While Yash in his 'Rocky Bhai' avatar has already become a cult, actor Sanjay Dutt, who plays the role of a villain named Adheera in KGF Chapter 2, is also receiving rare reviews for his performance.

Sharing his experience about preparing for the role, Dutt said, "Adheera will always be a very memorable character. The armour that i wore in the film was very heavy. And we had to work in the heat and the dust. But despite all the hardships, it never felt like a pain. Playing Adheera was not difficult or taxing as I loved the character. And that's what makes it special."

The 62-year-old actor further admits that in his 4 decade long film career, Adheera from KGF 2 is his most powerful onscreen appearance.

"My character in KGF Chapter 2 is my most powerful cinematic role ever. It was thoroughly worked upon by Prashanth, who also took my inputs and suggestions in developing the entire look. In adherence to it's powerful persona, the look of Adheera had to be striking and masterly."

On people drawing comparisons between Kancha Cheena from Agneepath (2012) and Adheera from KGF 2, Sanjay says both the characters might be villainous and scary but they are poles apart.

"Kaancha was a villian of a different kind. He was weird and unpredictable. His life was all about Mandwa and he was neck deep in insecurities about himself- his alopecia, his not-so-good looks and his hidden complexes. However, Adheera is more of a macho villain. He has an aura, a swag which is so different from Kancha Cheena."

Expressing gratitude, Dutt reveals that the journey of KGF Chapter 2 has been a lesson for him after 45 years in the film industry, adding that he is thankful to everyone - his younger brother Yash and also Prashanth, for making this happen and for giving him Adheera.

Noteworthy, KGF Chapter 2 stars Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon in pivotal roles. It released in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam langauges on April 14, 2022. The movie is written and directed by Prashanth Neel and is produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under the Hombale Films banner.
