Even a week after its premiere, the ‘Adipurush’ scandal is still ongoing. The Prabhas and Kriti Sanon-starring movie received criticism from the audience and numerous seasoned actors for its dialogue and modernization. Gajendra Chauhan, who portrayed Yudhisthir in BR Chopra's legendary television series ‘Mahabharat’, has now criticised the Om Raut film and its author Manoj Muntashir in his most recent interview with a media portal. Chauhan was a well-known figure in the television and film industries and served as the former head of the esteemed Film and Television Institute of India, or FTII. Since the release of the first teaser, the movie by Raut has received a lot of criticism first for the film's subpar VFX, and now for the whole thing. Although the producers went to great efforts to edit the dialogue, which at first incensed the fans, this modification might not be his magnum opus's saviour.
The ‘Mahabharat’ actor did not lag behind and joined the chorus of ‘Adipurush’ critics, admitting that he had originally intended to see the movie in a theatre but afterwards changed his mind. Speaking to India Today, Gajendra Chauhan remarked, “I had booked a ticket to watch this film, but for some reason, my conscience refused to accept that I should go and watch it in the theatre. In fact, after seeing everything in the trailers and short clips, I realised that this film is not worth it. I don’t want to compromise my beliefs. I want to see Lord Ram as Lord Shri Ram.”
Gajendra Chauhan continued and went to criticise the producers. He stated: “Yeh girl hui soch ka natija hai. You write the way you think. Manoj Muntashir, who is a lyricist, was given the job to write dialogues for the film. He has copied things from different sources and made a mess. He is an egotistical man. He hasn’t achieved an inch of what Rahi Masoom Raza Saab had written in Mahabharat.”
The actor earlier discussed how Raj Babbar, who wrote the dialogue for BR Chopra's ‘Mahabharat’, faced criticism for the film's dialogue in an interview with Times Now. He remembered, “The then-current government had objections to some of its dialogues. Those dialogues were written by Raj Babbar, in which Raja Bharat says that ‘Rajpath should be based on merit and not dynasty’, which completely went against the government and it was demanded to be removed from the show.”
‘Adipurush’, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, is currently experiencing a box office nightmare and will complete its run in India with less than 300 crores.
