Darlings star Vijay Varma, who also appears with Alia Bhatt in the film, is getting a lot of praise for his performance. He's already received high appreciation for his roles in Mirzapur and Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy. Following Arjun Kapoor, Vijay Varma expressed his opinions on the ongoing boycott and cancel culture debate in Bollywood. The August 11 release of Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan, and Raksha Bandhan, starring Akshay Kumar, both attracted boycott demands on social media.

He expressed, “It can scare you. It has just gone a bit overboard now. I feel something that you said 10 years ago could have been objectionable, and made a few people raise their eyebrows. It could be a prevalent exercise at that time, but in today’s times, it is no longer frowned upon. I feel you cannot be canceled for something like that.”

Further giving an example, Vijay said, “For example, I go to a house in Rajasthan and there are leopard and tiger skins on display. When that house was probably built, it was normal to have dead animal skins on display... We have now understood how dangerous and cruel this is for the wildlife and animals. But people at that time, a family who has seen four generations of animal skins on their wall and had not educated themselves. Can we cancel them?"

On the work front, in season three of the popular series Mirzapur, he will reprise his part as the Tyagi twins. He will also be seen in the Viacom 18 production Dahaad, which is a remake of the film The Devotion of Suspect X and starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat, as well as Reema Kagti's Amazon Prime series Dahaad.
