As the country commemorates Shaheed Diwas, or Martyrs' Day, on Wednesday, a slew of Bollywood stars has paid tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru. Shaheed Diwas is acknowledged to pay tribute to these young freedom fighters who were hanged on March 23, 1931, at the Lahore Central Jail in Lahore.
Ajay Devgn received the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2002 for his portrayal of Bhagat Singh in The Legend of Bhagat Singh. The film, which featured Sushant Singh as Sukhdev and D. Santosh as Rajguru, also won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. In commemoration of Shaheed Diwas. Ajay Devgn wrote: “Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru’s ideologies and spirits will forever be imperishable. Dushman aadmi ko maar sakta hai, uske aadarshon ko nahi!”
