Akshay Kumar is without a doubt one of the most popular actors in the industry, as well as a favorite of directors and producers due to his bankability. For months, rumours about the release of his next film Mission Cinderella have been circulating. According to recent reports, the film will be broken into a mini-series and will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar later this year. The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh as the female lead.
According to sources, the Hindi version of the Tamil classic Ratsasan (2018) will be shared in episodes. A source close to the project revealed, “The story beautifully lends itself to the episodic format of filmmaking, and hence, the entire team is currently trying to tweak the edit to make it a limited episode OTT series. If need be, they are ready to shoot some of the portions again to keep the episode on a cliff-hanger. Basically, the makers are looking to position it as Akshay Kumar’s digital debut in the episodic format.”
The source further said, “They don’t wish to dilute the impact of this story, which holds the viewer on the edge of their seat until the end. However, there is also a talk on how the longer format will give the director some more time to establish the psyche of his characters in a better way. It’s all in the early stages, but if everything materialises, Cinderella would make a debut as an OTT original series.”
Meanwhile, Kumar's other releases this year include Yash Raj Films’ Prithviraj, Colour Yellow Productions’ Raksha Bandhan, and Amazon Studios’ Ram Setu.
