Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who is looking forward to the release of his upcoming epic drama Samrat Prithviraj, was recently quizzed about the ongoing north-south cinema debate. During a promotional spree, the actor was asked for his take on the issue and the actor apparently lost his cool at the question.
"Please stop creating the divide and rule kind of scenario in the country. There is nothing called south and north we all are one as an industry," a visibly miffed Akshay told the journalist.
"Now, the time has come from across all the industries to join and work together for a film for all the Indian audiences and Allu Arjun should work with me soon and I will act with another south actor. That is the way forward from now on," he added.
Talking of Samrat Prithviraj, the film is based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj language epic poem about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, a Rajput king from the Chahamana dynasty.
The film features Akshay Kumar as Prithviraj Chauhan, while former Miss Universe Manushi Chhillar makes her Hindi film debut playing the role of Sanyogita. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana and Sakshi Tanwar in other pivotal roles. It is slated to release on 3 June 2022.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar continues to be one of the busiest actors in Bollywood. After Samrat Prithviraj, Kumar has Raksha Bandhan and Ram Setu up for release.
Besides, Akshay will also be seen in movies like Mission Cinderella, OMG2, Selfiee and the yet-to-be-titled Soorarai Pottru remake, all of which will hit cinemas next year.
