Alia Bhatt met real-life sex workers from Kamathipura as part of her prep for Gangubai Kathiawadi
Ever since making her debut with Karan Johar’s college-caper Student of the Year (2012), Alia Bhatt has consistently been delivering top-notch performances. She is currently awaiting the release of her much-awaited film Gangubai Kathiawadi, which presents her in a never-seen-before avatar.
The makers dropped the theatrical trailer of the film today, which took the internet by storm in no time. Apart from director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s unmatched vision, what stands out in the trailer is none other than Alia Bhatt who leaves a lasting impression as Gangubai, the fearless madam from the red-light district of Kamathipura.
As per reports, Bhatt left no stone unturned in making sure that her character looked authentic on the screen. From taking help of a renowned dialect coach to perfect her diction and voice modulation for to meeting real-life sex workers in Kamathipura, the actress did a lot as part of her preparation for the role.
If the trailer of Gangubai Kathiawadi is anything to go by, the audience is going to witness yet another magnificent performance from Bhatt.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Gangubai Kathiawadi also features Ajay Devgn in an important cameo. The film is due on February 25, 2022.
