Darlings, bankrolled by Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions, is set to premiere on Netflix this year. The film is directed by Jasmeet K Reen and stars Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew in lead roles. It is produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma. Darlings also features two musical legends: music composer Vishal Bharadwaj and lyricist Gulzar.
In the announcement video, Alia Bhatt and the actors are asked if “Darling is coming to Netflix?" While the actors try their hardest to avoid the topic, Alia gives up near the end of the video and says, "See you soons!" "Hey, darlings. See you soons" the Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) actress wrote in the caption alongside the video.
Based in Mumbai, Darlings is a dark comedy about a mother and daughter who face extraordinary situations and struggle to make it in life despite all obstacles.
Filmmaker Jasmeet K Reen said in an interview, “I couldn’t have asked for a better feature film debut—working with a pool of versatile and talented actors has been an absolute pleasure. I am delighted that Red Chillies and Eternal Sunshine are taking the film across the globe with Netflix.”
Alia Bhatt, who makes her production debut (Eternal Sunshine) with Darlings, said, “Darlings holds a very special place in my heart, it’s my first film as a producer that too with Red Chillies. We are very proud and happy how the film has shaped up and we hope it will entertain and engage audiences world over.”
