Anand, one of Bollywood’s most iconic films, is set to get a remake. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna played major parts in the 1971 film. Producer Sameer Raj Sippy, the grandson of NC Sippy who produced the original, will remake the film.
Sameer has teamed up with Vikram Khakhar to produce the remake. The film's director and actors are yet to be confirmed.
While Anand's remake is currently in the screenplay stage, a few facts about the film have been revealed. Producer Sameer Raj Sippy said that stories like Anand should be told to the coming generations.
Producer Vikram Khakhar expressed his enthusiasm for the remake, saying, “Digging into our own classics, we will find invaluable gems rather than scouting for stories, internationally or regionally. Placing Anand in the post-Covid era, where we emphasize the value of life, will enhance the story of Anand.”
Producer Sameer Raj Sippy said, “Keeping in mind the sensibilities of the original film and the emotions attached, I felt the current generation needs to retold the many stories that are so relevant today and especially when there is a great appetite for good content.”
