Amitabh Bachchan made the announcement in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon amid all the commotion around the change.

Amitabh Bachchan wrote in Hindi, "Bharat Mata ki Jai, along with a Tricolour and orange flag emoji."

In less than an hour, the tweet on X (previously Twitter) has received more than 505.3K views, 15.6K likes, and 2,539 re-tweets.

After social media users started sharing screenshots of a September 9 G20 dinner invitation, rumours regarding the country's name change started to spread. Instead of "President of India," the invitation was addressed to "President of Bharat."
