The biggest Bollywood opening of 2022 was Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which recently released in theatres. The film is a follow-up to Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, and Shiney Ahuja’s 2007 psychological thriller Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
Bazmee recently revealed why Akshay Kumar was not in the sequel. The director said Kumar is “too big for these small things.”
“Akshay is too big for these small things. Akshay Kumar cannot be replaced, and he knows that he is not replaced in this film. Akshay has a great body of work over 25 years. Akshay is doing comedy, he is dancing, he is doing action, he is doing everything, and he is getting offered the kind of films he wants. So, it is a very small thing for him to do or not do Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,” the filmmaker said.
The director also stated that if their script had permitted Akshay to appear in the film, the actor would have done so without hesitation. After directing Akshay in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Welcome (2007), and Singh Is King (2008), he also spoke about his friendship with the actor, saying that they had great chemistry.
