Anil Kapoor says he won’t do comedy films with a new director; says, ‘sensitive whom I'm working with’

With his on-screen presence in Jugjugg Jeeyo, Anil Kapoor will soon be lighting up the big screens. Over the past few years, the seasoned actor has delivered some standout performances of his career. He recently stated that Jugjugg Jeeyo isn't your normal family drama, and that's what drew him to the character and script in particular.
In a recent interview, Mr. India (1987) actor spoke about his take on comedy films. He stated, "It’s not a family drama, but a family comedy. I wouldn’t say yes to a typical family drama; I have done them earlier. This story has (novelty)."
Additionally, Anil Kapoor has mastered the comedy genre with ease. When asked how he consistently hits the right note, the actor said he always thinks carefully about who he is working with.
He added, "With comedies, I am sensitive about whom I am working with. The director is paramount. I have worked with the best of directors — from Basu Chatterjee to Hrishikesh Mukherjee — in this genre. I won’t do a comedy with a new director or writer. I have to see his work, his take on the genre, and he has to prove himself."
Jugjugg Jeeyo, a Raj Mehta directorial, is slated for release on June 24, 2022. It also stars Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Kiara Advani in pivotal roles.
