Anurag Kashyap On Gadar 2 And OMG 2’s Success, ‘Glad They Were Not Propaganda Films…’ (Details Inside)

Following the box office success of Bollywood blockbusters ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘OMG 2’, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap commended the films' producers for their ethical filmmaking. Both films garnered good acclaim from viewers and critics alike, providing a much-needed lift to the Indian box office. Anurag's comments came just days after renowned actor Naserruddin Shah criticized ‘Gadar 2's’ producers, calling the film's success "disturbing."

‘Gadar 2’, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, is now one of the highest grossing Indian films of the year, while Akshay Kumar's ‘OMG 2’ wowed viewers and grossed over Rs 100 crore globally. Anurag Kashyap stated of the films' success, "I'm glad the makers of OMG 2 and Gadar 2 didn't make any propaganda films."

“The biggest thing today I'd say is that the biggest films in cinema halls today, Gadar 2 and OMG 2, their filmmakers could've gauged the nation's mood and turned them into propaganda and counter-propaganda films,” the filmmaker said in an interview.

He further added, “They're responsible filmmaking within the ambit of mainstream. There was no unnecessary noise, no voice raised, no unnecessary controversy. They were good films for the audiences they were made for. The filmmaker didn't unleash the opportunist within.”

Naseeruddin Shah’s remark about ‘Gadar 2’:

While ‘Gadar 2’ made box office history by becoming the fastest Hindi film to cross the Rs 500 crore mark in India, legendary actor Naseeruddin Shah slammed the makers of films like as ‘Gadar 2’, ‘The Kerala Story’, and ‘Kashmir Files’ for being "jingoist." The actor expressed concern that these films have become such enormous successes while other filmmakers, including Hansal Mehta, have failed at the box office.

‘Gadar 2’s Box Office Collection:
