Anek, the film starring Ayushmann Khurrana, has been pushed back two weeks. In Anek, Sinha reunites with his Article 15 (2019) co-star Ayushmann Khurrana and Thappad (2020) producer Bhushan Kumar to film a razor-sharp socio-political drama. The film will now be released on May 27 instead of May 13, as it was originally scheduled.
At the box office, Anek and Jayeshbhai Jordaar were supposed to clash. The film's producers, on the other hand, talked about a win-win plan that will help both films succeed. Aditya Chopra, YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani, Bhushan Kumar, and Anubhav Sinha met late and agreed to avoid a conflict.
Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani stated, "Producers Bhushan Kumar and Anubhav Sinha were very gracious and have shifted the release of Anek to the 27 May. With this move, both Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Anek will receive their fair share of the audience attention. As a token of gesture, the trailer of Anek will now be attached to Jayeshbhai Jordaar, making it the first non-YRF film trailer to be attached to a YRF film.”
Bhushan Kumar, commenting on the development, said, "I believe that the film industry is one big family and with that we should always be open to accommodating the best interests of the films we are churning out. Both are promising films and we are also excited to have the Anek trailer attached to Jayeshbhai Jordaar."
Anek is said to dive into a subject that has been mostly ignored by filmmakers in the nation. The film was shot in some of the most beautiful locations in the North East, and the filmmaker describes it as his most ambitious production to date. The film appears to be a fitting addition in his broad portfolio, since the filmmaker is known for gravitating towards stories of grit.
Anek will be released on May 27th, 2022, and is a collaboration between Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Anubhav Sinha's Benaras Mediaworks.
