Bhumi Pednekar is delighted about Badhaai Do's success
Bhumi Pednekar, who is riding high on the success of her recently released film Badhaai Do (2022), in which she co-starred with Rajkummar Rao, is overjoyed with the film's success.
Directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni, the film focused on a lavender couple and their comfort marriage. The comedy-drama was Rajkummar and Bhumi's debut collaboration, and their onscreen chemistry left the audience speechless. While Badhaai Do continues to receive excellent reviews following its OTT premiere, Bhumi Pednekar recently spoke on the film's success and expressed her gratitude for the love she has received.
Bhumi expressed she is grateful for the tremendous response to Badhaai Do when she spoke to India Today about the film's success. “There was a tremendous amount of confidence that we had in the script and it gratifies me that the audiences have loved the film so much,” she continued. Bhumi also recalled her initial reaction to the Badhaai Do storyline, saying that it was similar to how the audience had reacted to the film.
When she read the script for Badhaai Do, the Shubh Mangal Savdhaan (2020) actress claimed she laughed and then went into tears. “It was just a mix of emotions. I was amazed how the politics of the film was so correct. How the representation of the queer community was so sensitively done. What I loved about the film is that these two characters lived. There's nothing phenomenal or extraordinary that they do. They are flawed, they are grey, they have courage and they are as human as they are and that's what worked for Badhaai Do”.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Pednekar will be next seen in Rakshabandhan opposite Akshay Kumar and Govinda Naam Mera alongside Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani.
