With his upcoming film Chup, filmmaker R Balki is venturing into unexplored territory. The trailer, which was released today, follows the transformation of an artist into a dreadful serial killer. In a macabre turn, the anonymous serial killer inscribes glowing reviews on the bodies of critics. The film is a homage to filmmaker Guru Dutt and his 1959 classic Kaagaz Ke Phool.
Sunny Deol's voiceover tells us in the trailer's opening narration about a serial murderer known as "critics ka critic who are blamed for hunting out movie critics due to their erratically analytical style. His main gripe is that Guru Dutt didn't stop making movies till after Kaagaz Ke Phool had received poor reviews. The trailer also shows a glimpse of Dulquer Salmaan and Shreya Dhawanthary's romance, which contains dark undertones. Pooja Bhatt, on the other hand, plays a psychiatrist in the thriller and can be seen questioning a person.

Dulquer who plays a pivotal role in the film said, “I have done different films in my career, however, this one really hits it out of the park in terms of the character and its story. It feels like you're looking into someone’s inner workings and the character I play is especially unique so it was an altogether new experience for me”.
Chup: Revenge of the Artist is slated to hit the screens on September 30. 2022.
