The Election Commission of India has named Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao as the national icon, marking a significant moment ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in five states. The commission plans to officially bestow this title on the actor during a ceremony on Thursday, further solidifying his status as a prominent figure in the nation.
With the elections anticipated to involve more than 161 million eligible voters, the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar stressed the significance of these state assembly elections as a prelude to the 2024 general elections.

Apart from his electoral role, Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for various film projects, including a reunion with Janhvi Kapoor in an upcoming cricket-themed movie, the release date of which is yet to be confirmed.
