Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah and his wife, television broadcaster Sanjana Ganesan, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Angad, on Monday. Bumrah had left the Asia Cup 2023 to be with his wife for the special occasion, missing India's Group A match against Nepal. The joyous news was shared by Bumrah on Instagram, accompanied by a heartwarming picture of the trio holding hands.
"Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. We are over the moon and can't wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it," Bumrah wrote on his Instagram.
Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan tied the knot in March 2021 in a private ceremony set against the beautiful backdrop of Goa. Their relationship had been kept discreet, unlike some of their fellow celebrity couples. Speculation about their romance began when Bumrah was released from the Indian squad before the fourth Test match against England in Ahmedabad. Soon after, their wedding photos went viral, even though Bumrah's teammates couldn't join the festivities due to strict COVID-19 bio-bubble restrictions.
Following their wedding, the couple occasionally shared pictures together, and Sanjana conducted an interview with Bumrah during India's tour of England. However, both gradually retreated from the public eye. Bumrah faced a setback due to a stress fracture in his back, which kept him out of competitive cricket for a year. Meanwhile, Sanjana also stepped back from her broadcasting duties. Unfairly, she became the target of public trolling when she posted vacation pictures on her social media. Each time, she handled the criticism with grace and resilience, firmly defending her husband's absence.
Now, with the arrival of their baby boy Angad, Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan embark on a new chapter of their life together, embracing the joys of parenthood.
