Deepika Padukone, who is currently seen in Shakun Batra's Gehraiyaan (2022), has been creating a lot of buzz for her spectacular line-up of films. Among her upcoming projects, the remake of the Hollywood film The Intern (2015) has caught everybody’s attention.
Apart from playing the female lead, Padukone is set to co-produce the film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. And, while fans wait for the film, the actress has after all spilled the beans concerning the filming of The Intern.
Deepika recently revealed to a newspaper that the third wave of the COVID 19 pandemic had forced them to postpone the plan to roll The Intern. “The Intern will take place this year or in early 2023. Because the third wave was unexpected, it pushed a few things off course,” she said, adding that everything is now back on schedule.
Deepika's third collaboration with Bachchan Sahab, following Aarakshan (2011) and Piku (2015), will be The Intern. For those who are unaware, Amitabh Bachchan was not the initial option for the role. The role was first offered to Rishi Kapoor, who had previously expressed interest in the film. However, after his untimely death in 2020, Big B was requested to fill his shoes.
Besides the remake of The Intern, Padukone is also working on Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan, which will be her fourth collaboration with the superstar following Om Shanti Om (2008), Chennai Express (2013), and Happy New Year (2014). In addition, she will share the screen with Hrithik Roshan for the first time in Siddharth Anand’s highly anticipated Fighter.
