Deepika Padukone & Sidharth Mallya's Ugly Breakup: He Called Her Crazy, She Felt Embarrassed

Bollywood's reigning queen, Deepika Padukone, has been making waves since her debut in 2007's 'Om Shanti Om."' Her blissful union with the powerhouse of Bollywood, Ranveer Singh, remains a headline favorite since their grand nuptials in November 2018. Together, they epitomize the epitome of a picture-perfect love story, which is something that the fans adore. However, before finding her prince charming, Deepika had quite a few failed relationships.

After her alleged brief relationships with MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, Deepika found love in business tycoon Vijay Mallya's son Sidharth Mallya. Their closeness raised eyebrows, especially when they were spotted at Royal Challengers Bangalore's IPL matches, hinting at a possible romantic connection. Rumors gained momentum when cameras caught the couple sharing a passionate moment during one of the matches, sending fans into a frenzy.

Like many high-profile romances, Deepika Padukone and Sidharth Mallya's love story eventually reached a tumultuous end. Their breakup was so ugly that they ended up saying nasty things about each other. Deepika once told IBT Times, “I tried hard to make the relationship work but his (Siddharth) behaviour in recent times has been disgusting. The last time we met on a dinner date he asked me to pay the bill. That was so embarrassing for me."

Sidharth Mallya called Deepika a 'crazy female':

However, Sidharth's perspective on their breakup offered a contrasting narrative. He called Deepika a 'crazy female' while sharing what went wrong between both. He said to a media portal, “Deepika is a crazy female, I told her that I'll return her money once dad clears his debts and the government sets him free but she was just not ready to settle down.” He had further added, “She has forgotten the time I gifted her with expensive diamonds, luxurious bags, have spent so much on her vacations and hosted parties for her friends on her behalf.”

Later, in 2014, in a conversation with The Unreal Times, Deepika recalled the reasons of her breakup with Sidharth Mallya. She said, "So cheap yaa! First, he insisted we travel by auto instead of the Merc. Then when I asked him for a dress, he took me to a low-end bazaar with an end-of-season sale offer and bargained like crazy for the one top he finally bought; I was so embarrassed! Asking me to pick up the tab after our meal at the Taj was the last straw!."

Deepika was also in a serious relationship with her 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' co-star Ranbir Kapoor. However, after the breakup, Deepika hinted that Ranbir had cheated on her. The 'Padmaavat' actress then stayed single for some time and indulged in casual dating before tying the knot with Ranveer Singh.
