The official trailer of the film released on 21 July 2022 in Telugu, Hindi and dubbed versions of Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam languages. The glimpses of Vijay's tough, power-packed avatar in Liger has already created a frenzy and fans are waiting with bated breathe for the film's release.
One thing which caught the attention of everyone after watching the trailer was that Liger (played by Vijay) has a speech problem. As per the actor, this only adds yet another layer to his character in the film.
Speaking about the preparation which he undertook to get the stutter right, Vijay said, "My character in the film has a stammering problem and that made it more interesting. On one hand, he is the guy who is physically so strong and intimidating to others, he is a fighter, but he can't even utter the simple three words 'I love you' to the girl he loves."
"It added both subtle humour and an emotional layer to his character. Initially, when we started shooting, I was struggling to get the right note, but after three days, everything was easy," the 33-year-old actor added.
Noteworthy, written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages. The film is produced by Dharma Productions and Puri Connects.
In the film, Vijay Deverakonda stars as the titular MMA fighter boxer alongside Ananya Panday, Ronit Roy and Ramya Krishnan in pivotal roles. American boxer Mike Tyson plays an extended cameo, thus making his acting debut in Indian cinema.
Liger is scheduled for theatrical release on 25 August 2022.
