Tinnu Anand, known for directing popular films starring Amitabh Bachchan in the 1980s like 'Kaalia' and 'Shahenshah,' once had an interesting anecdote about working with Amitabh Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in a film titled 'Shanakht' back in 1989.

In a recent interview, Tinnu Anand shared a memorable incident from the very first day of shooting. It involved a heated argument with Madhuri Dixit regarding her costume choice, which took an unexpected turn. Tinnu wanted her to wear a bra on-screen for a particular scene, but Madhuri expressed discomfort with the idea and firmly declined.

The scene in question involved Amitabh Bachchan's character being tied up in chains by the film's villain while trying to protect Madhuri's character. Madhuri's character was supposed to ask the goons why they were attacking a man in chains when she was standing right there. Tinnu had previously discussed this sequence with Madhuri, explicitly mentioning that she would need to unbutton her blouse on camera and appear in her bra. He emphasized that there would be no hiding behind haystacks or any such cinematic tricks.

Tinnu even allowed Madhuri to design her own bra for the scene, as long as it was indeed a bra and nothing else, to maintain the authenticity of the moment. Madhuri agreed to this during their initial discussion.

However, on the day of the shoot, which coincided with the film's first day of production, Madhuri kept everyone waiting for 45 minutes. When Tinnu went to check on her, he discovered that she hadn't even begun getting ready. Madhuri expressed her reluctance to perform the specific scene.

In response, Tinnu made a decisive choice, telling her that if she refused, the shoot would be canceled, and she would have to say goodbye to the film. When Amitabh Bachchan arrived on set and inquired about the situation, Tinnu explained the argument with Madhuri.

Amitabh tried to mediate, suggesting that they should let it go if Madhuri had objections. Tinnu, however, held his ground, stating that if Madhuri had concerns, she should have raised them before signing the film.

Madhuri's secretary later assured Tinnu that she would eventually agree to the scene, leading to the continuation of the shoot. Ultimately, 'Shanakht' was only filmed for five days, but Manmohan Desai, the film's producer, appreciated the footage he saw.

Despite this unique experience, Madhuri Dixit and Tinnu Anand never collaborated on another project.
