The cast of a movie is frequently responsible for its success, and every now and then, a performance happens that leaves an enduring impression on the audience. Can't help but bring up Superstar Ranveer Singh's depiction of Kabir Mehra in Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do, which turns 8 years old today. It was nothing short of magnificent. There isn't a better representation of the privileged, lost boy, in my opinion. He was the ideal candidate for the part due to his captivating on-screen personality, relatable vulnerability, and impressive adaptability. He is without a doubt the best actor of his generation, and only Ranveer Singh could have done Kabir Mehra justice.

While the superstar's acting talent is undeniable, and we have seen him deliver that transformative magic to his author-supported roles in movies like ‘Ram Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmaavat’, and ‘83', it takes a particular kind of talent to deliver that magic to a real and relatable role like that of Kabir Mehra in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.
Kabir Mehra needed someone like Singh to bring his character to life by infusing each scene with his vitality because of all his complexity and emotional struggles. Ranveer expertly captured the character's evolution, reflecting both his inner conflicts and external development. From Kabir Mehra's early carefree and rebellious spirit to his mature realisation of his own desires, Singh expertly captured the emotional depth and development of the character. His capacity to depict the subtleties of the character's journey also helped him to make the part really his own.
From humour to grief, the movie explored a wide range of emotions, and Singh expertly handled each one. The celebrity gave Kabir Mehra a remarkable authenticity and relatability that caused the character to strike a chord with spectators strongly. This could be seen in his ability to elicit laughter with his comedic timing or tug the heartstrings with his melancholy moments.
It wasn't unexpected that Ranveer was chosen by Zoya Akhtar right away for her next ambitious movie, ‘Gully Boy’, which once again displayed his immense talent and breadth as an actor. In reality, the director of ‘Gully Boy’ and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ was cited as saying, “I have a deep friendship with him and I know he is capable of a lot of sensitivity. So I found it easy to tap into that. He is a great actor and I don't think there is anything that he can't do.”
