Anurag Basu is one of the best filmmakers in Bollywood. He has given Indian cinema and audiences some of the best and most unforgettable films. Now, the official biopic of Ravindra Kaushik, the greatest spy in Indian history, titled "The Black Tiger," will be helmed by Anurag Basu and he will be seen working behind the camera.
Who is Ravindra Kaushik?
Initially going undercover for R&AW, Ravindra Kaushik was only 20 years old. Given his remarkable success in infiltrating the top levels of the Pakistani Army, Kaushik is regarded as India's best spy thus far. Then-Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi gave him the nickname "The Black Tiger" for his accomplishments. Between 1974 and 1983, he reliably provided Indian security forces with crucial information in a timely manner, ensuring that they were always one step ahead of any move Pakistan was contemplating.
The family has also agreed to the biopic and is helping the producers by providing all the details as well as the plot from their perspective.
Anurag Basu talks about directing the film
Talking about the film and Ravindra Kaushik, the director said, "The story of Ravindra Kaushik is one of valour and bravery. He was only 20 years old when he made a significant contribution to a number of national and international security issues that shaped the geopolitics of South Asia and India in the 1970s and 1980s. So much of our past has been lost or hidden. This unsung hero deserves to be recognized and known."
