Dream Girl 2: Ayushmann Khurranna Had Doubts About Ananya Panday Being PERFECT For The Film; Here’s The Reason Why!

Ayushmann Khurrana, known for his 2019 comedy hit ‘Dream Girl’, is all geared up for its sequel, ‘Dream Girl 2’. Fans eagerly anticipate the release of this follow-up, which brings back Ayushmann in a remarkable role. Unlike its predecessor, where Nushrratt Bharuccha shared the screen with Ayushmann, the sequel introduces Ananya Panday as the leading lady. In a recent interview with an entertainment news portal, Ayushmann expressed some reservations about whether Ananya Panday would be the perfect fit for the female lead in ‘Dream Girl 2’.

He mentioned, "I was contemplating how Ananya, being someone with an urban background, would adapt to the setting of Mathura, a tier-2 city in India. To my surprise, she acclimated remarkably well. As we travel just 10 km in our country, the accent changes, and she nailed it perfectly with the accent," Ayushmann shared in the interview.

He continued, "For someone from Bombay, catching those varied accents can be challenging. I, on the other hand, can manage because I converse and think in Hindi. But she has done an exceptional job in the film. We've already seen this in her previous work, like Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019), where she had already acted in a film set in Uttar Pradesh."

Notably, the original ‘Dream Girl’ featured Nushrratt Bharuccha as the female protagonist. However, the sequel takes the storyline to new heights as Ayushmann's character cross-dresses as a woman to deceive a group of isolated men. Opposite Ayushmann, Ananya Panday takes on the lead role. Annu Kapoor is set to reprise his role as Ayushmann's father, continuing from the first film. Vijay Raaz and Abhishek Banerjee, who portrayed the lonely men, will also make a comeback in their respective roles for the sequel.

Adding to the star-studded ensemble of ‘Dream Girl 2’, several renowned comedy figures join the cast, including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, and Manoj Joshi, among others. With its release date set for August 25th, ‘Dream Girl 2’ is poised to grace theaters with its entertaining narrative and impressive lineup.
