From Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj to Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan, Yash Raj Films has planned a number of theatrical releases to commemorate their 50th anniversary
Founded by filmmaker Yash Chopra in 1970, Yash Raj Films has created magic happen on big screen with blockbusters like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Veer Zaara (2004), Dhoom universe, Tiger series and many more. The company has grown to be one of the largest film studios in India. In 2020, Yash Raj Films was gearing up for a large slate of films to celebrate the giant production house's 50th anniversary. However, the virus swept the globe, and many projects were put on hold. YRF has announced five major projects to start off the silver anniversary festivities, with 2022 in full swing and theatres virtually back on schedule.
Ranbir Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Salman Khan star in the five films - Shamshera, Prithviraj, Pathaan, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and Tiger 3. The following is a list of all the release dates that YRF has announced so far.
Pathaan
Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, has undoubtedly become the most anticipated film of the post-pandemic period! This high-octane spy thriller, directed by Siddharth Anand, will be released on January 25, 2023, according to YRF (Republic Day weekend).
Shamshera
Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera, set in the 1800's, tells the story of a dacoit tribe and their fight for independence during the British rule. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor and is set to hit the silver screens on July 22, 2022.
Tiger 3
In Maneesh Sharma's forthcoming film Tiger 3, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif will reprise their roles as Tiger and Zoya. The third instalment, directed by Maneesh Sharma, will be grander and more ambitious than the previous two. On Eid 2023, the stars are scheduled to take over the big screen with their flick. It also stars Emraan Hashmi in a negative role.
Jayeshbhai Jordaar
Jayeshbhai Jordaar, produced by Maneesh Sharma, stars Ranveer Singh as a unique character. Ranveer will be seen playing the titular Gujarati guy, who believes in gender equality in society. The eagerly anticipated film will be released on May 13, 2022. Arjun Reddy actress Shalini Pandey will be making her Bollywood debut in this film directed by Divyang Thakkar.
Prithviraj
Prithviraj, starring Akshay Kumar, has been postponed, with a new release date set earlier this week. It is a period drama based on the heroism of the fearless King Prithviraj Chauhan as he faces off against Muhammad of Ghor.It will be released in theatres on June 3, 2022. Manushi Chhillar, the former Miss World, makes her Bollywood debut in this film. Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt play significant parts in the film.
