From Gangubai Kathiawadi to Brahmastra: Here’re the upcoming films of Alia Bhatt we’re excited for
Alia Bhatt, who made her silver screen debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year in 2012, has established herself as one of the most sought-after actresses in Bollywood. She currently has a long list of high-profile films set to open in cinemas in 2022 and 2023. Here’s the list of all the upcoming Alia Bhatt films we are really excited for.
1. Gangubai Kathiawadi
Based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, Gangubai Kathiawadi will tell the story of a mafia lady who turns from Ganga to Gangubai, a madame in the red-light area of Kamathipura. The film is produced and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and has cameo appearances by Ajay Devgn and Huma Qureshi. It is set for release on February 25th of this year.
2. RRR
RRR is a magnum opus by acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli. It is produced by D.V.V. Danayya of DVV Entertainments and stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, and Olivia Morris. While the two southern megastars are in lead roles, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn’s roles are pivotal for the story. The film was postponed due to COVID-19 and now it will be released on March 25.
3. Brahmastra
In this fantasy adventure drama, Alia Bhatt will star alongside boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. The film is written and directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar. It also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni in important roles. The film is set for release on September 9, 2022.
4. Jee Le Zaraa
Jee Le Zaraa is a multi-starrer that features Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, and Priyanka Chopra on the primary cast. Vicky Kaushal and Farhan Akhtar will also star in the film. It is a female buddy road trip film written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. Farhan Akhtar is set to make his directorial comeback with the film.
5. Darlings
The film will be a comedy-drama starring Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew in lead roles. It is directed by Jasmeet K Reen and produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Production. The film wrapped up production in September last year and will release this year.
6. Rocky & Rani Ki Prem Kahani
Rocky & Rani Ki Prem Kahani is scheduled for release next year. The film stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt in important roles. It is a romantic drama, directed by Karan Johar and produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios.
