All eyes are on ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, one of the most popular films from the early 2000s, when it returns to theatres. The movie's sequel is presently under production and will premiere over the Fourth of July holiday. The first installment of the movie franchise will return to theatres before the movie comes out, but with some important changes.
Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel played the leading parts in the 2001 movie. The late actor Amrish Puri portrayed a well-known Pakistani figure and the actress's father, who opposed her getting married to an Indian. But in the end, Sunny's Tara Singh gets his wife back.
Nearly 22 years have passed since we first experienced Tara Singh and Sakeena's enduring love. Anil Sharma, the film's director, has remastered the original film for Rs 2 crores as he marks its 22nd anniversary. The new version will have a never-before-seen moment that was never shown in theatres or on television.
According to a report, a 50-second clip referencing Tara Singh by a supporting character has been added to the film. “Damad hai woh Pakistan ka. Usse nariyal do, usse tikaa lagao.” He continued, “Dahej mein Lahore le jaayega.” The film now has a screen time of 3 hours, 12 minutes, and 45 seconds, although its initial runtime was 3 hours and 10 minutes.
Additionally, the Central Board of Film Certification has requested that some dialogues be cut from the film, including "Mil baant ke" and "Chaabi ghumayenge." Cuss terms used by Amrish Puri, such as "Kafir" and "Kaum," were also eliminated from the final product. As he places it in someone's stomach, Sunny Deol's infamous handpump scene is likewise chopped short. The specific shot was cut from the film because of the incredibly gruesome scene. The image of a guy being stabbed and a decapitated body were also deleted.
‘Gadar 2’ will be released in theatres on August 11, 2023, for the uninitiated.
