Karan Johar is one of the best Bollywood directors, responsible for several successful films including 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,' 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,' 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna,' and others. It wouldn't be unfair to refer to Karan as the most audacious, opinionated, and divisive figure in the business. When Karan Johar questions people, he also freely discusses his own sexuality, personal life, and nepotism.
His outspokenness is a result of rejection as a child, bullying as a child, and multiple breakdowns. Karan endured a lot of teasing as a child for making gestures similar to girls. He used to be teased and made fun of, and this is still happening now. Karan no longer gives a damn about any of this, though, as his sole loves are his family, Hindi film, and Dharma productions. As the filmmaker ages a year today, let's learn about some unexplored facets of his life.
In Mumbai, Karan Johar was born on May 25, 1972. His father, Yash Johar, founded Dharma Productions and was a well-known producer. In Mumbai, Karan attended HR College of Commerce and Economics and Green Lawn High School. In his youth, he was very overweight, but his voice was weak. Karan stopped communicating to people because he was so insecure as a result of being bullied all the time. Not even friends were made by him. When he complained about being bullied to his teacher at the age of 13, the teacher instead gave him advice on how to raise his voice.
Twinkle Khanna and Karan Johar attended the same boarding school. Back when they were both in school, he had a crush on Twinkle. Karan enrolled in the same school as Twinkle when she transferred schools. He even attempted to leave school at one point in order to see Twinkle, but was found and chastised in front of the entire school.
Karan wanted to extend the release dates of his movie because he knew how much Kajol loved Mani Ratnam. Despite having signed the first deal with Karan, Kajol rejected Mani Ratnam even after learning this. They have since become the best of friends. Years later, during the conflict between "Shivaay" and "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil," Ajay Devgn and Karan argued, ending their friendship. Karan dedicated a chapter to Kajol in his memoirs, discussing their relationship and how he will always value it.
With the aid of his father, Karan Johar launched his acting career. His first job was with the programme 'Indradhanush' on Doordarshan. He later worked with director Aditya Chopra on the movie 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,' in which he also portrayed Shah Rukh's friend. Shah Rukh suggested to Karan that he start making films himself while they were filming.
SRK called Yash Johar as soon as DDLJ's filming was finished and said, "I want him to direct the film; please tell him to start preparations soon." Shah Rukh messaged Karan one day at two in the morning and asked him what kind of movie he wanted to direct. Soon after, Karan began writing the movie, only casting Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji. 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,' which was published in 1998, received the National Award in addition to 8 Filmfare Awards, including the Best Director Filmfare Award for Karan.

Salman was Salman's first choice to play Aman in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,' but Karan Johar had to select other actors due to the hefty fee demand. Chandrachud Singh and Saif Ali Khan also declined to play this part. At a party hosted at Chunky Pandey's home a few days later, Karan ran into Salman once more.
Salman approached Karan when he saw him angry and inquired as to why he was acting so poorly. When Karan said that no one had been cast in the character of Aman, Salman said, "I will do this role, I like you and your father Yash, and I will do the film only if you pay for it." Salman refused to dress in a suit as the song ‘Saajan Ji Ghar Aaye’ was being recorded. Karan urged him to dress as per the situation, but he insisted on wearing ripped jeans and a T-shirt. Salman was refusing, and the filmmaker became agitated by his outbursts because everyone knew how obstinate SK was. According to Karan, he practically urged Salman to follow the script.
Kareena and Karan Johar used to be close friends, but their relationship suffered when Kareena demanded a salary for the movie 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' that was equal to Shah Rukh's. Preity Zinta was cast in the movie, and Karan avoided talking to Kareena for a full year. Later, the director called the person, discussed the situation, and they both called back as friends.
