This year marks the tenth anniversary of Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). The Anurag Kashyap directorial is still ahead of the curve in Hindi cinema, exactly as it was when it was first released. In the years that followed, no Hindi film has come close to matching its ambition, enthusiasm, and cinephilic desire.
Gangs of Wasseypur premiered in May 2012 as part of the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. Huma Qureshi, who made her Bollywood debut in the film, took to social media to express how the experience transformed her life.
Taking to Instagram, the actress shared that she has completed 10 years in Bollywood and not only she made her Bollywood debut but her Cannes debut with Gangs of Wasseypur.
She penned a lengthy note that read, “10 years to the exact day when Gangs of Wasseypur had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. It was a crazy special day indeed.”
Varun Grover shared these stunning photos with Huma, who expressed her gratitude in a note.
The actress stated that she became emotional when she saw these photos. Huma also expressed gratitude to Anurag for providing her a cinematic career with Gangs of Wasseypur and for believing in her when no one else did. “Today so many people who have been part of that film are doing so well… can’t believe how we made this film and had so much fun doing it.”
On the work front, Huma Qureshi was recently seen in the web series, Mithya (2022). She will be next seen in Tarla Dalal’s biopic, titled Tarla.
