Pooja Bhatt On Her Failed Marriage:

When Bhatt talked about her marriage to businessman and TV host Manish Makhija, which ended in 2003, she said that the main reason was that they were too boring together. "I found myself in a marriage that was slowly deteriorating," she told the crowd at the launch of her book Unchain My Heart. There was nothing painful about it; it was just a loss of excitement. Neither of us wandered or looked for affairs outside of marriage. I understood as a woman that I had lost my sense of self by following the rules that society set for me. I felt trapped and limited—first by the standards of being a good wife, and then by my desire to find comfort in a bottle. She was honest about how hard it was for her to break this habit, saying, "I questioned myself, figuring out the difference between a toxic relationship and relying on alcohol." The two of them helped me dull the pain. So, I set out on a journey of self-discovery, facing my inner turmoil and emptiness along the way. This led to a life-changing insight.
