IIFA 2023: Alia Bhatt’s Grandfather Narendra Razdan Is CRITICAL; Actress Will NOT ATTEND The Event?

Alia Bhatt was scheduled to fly abroad for IIFA 2023. Unfortunately, the actress was unable to attend the ceremony due to an allegedly pressing family matter. Narendra Razdan, Alia's maternal grandpa, is reportedly under fire. He has been ill for some time. A lung infection caused Mr. Razdan to be confined to Breach Candy Hospital previously. The physicians chose to move him to the intensive care unit (ICU) because his infection became more serious. Later on, it was decided to make him comfortable in the room rather than transport him to the intensive care unit.

The Times Of India reported that Alia Bhatt had arrived at the airport but chose to remain there for her grandfather.

"Mr. Narendra Razdan is Soni Razdan's father and Alia's grandfather. He has been in the Breach Candy hospital for quite some time now. He had a lung infection which got worse. In the morning, the family got a distress call that the doctors wanted to shift him to the ICU. There was a decision taken not to take him to the ICU, but to make him comfortable within the room. He's 95 and as of now he's in the sunset hours. Alia turned back from the airport because she didn't want to be there at the award function while her grandfather was going through a very vulnerable time," a source told the media portal.

With her husband Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt most recently appeared in Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra. The actress's upcoming film appearance will be in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, directed by Karan Johar. For the movie, she and Ranveer Singh, her co-star from ‘Gully Boy’, reconnected. The film, supported by KJo's Dharma Productions, will premiere on July 28, 2023.
