International Men’s Day: Actors who had great impact in 2022

Every year on November 19th, people all around the world observe International Men's Day to recognise, honour, and celebrate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic accomplishments of men from all walks of life. Charismatic actors and actresses from Indian cinema have also left a lasting impression in 2022. Find out who we believe has made a significant impact in the film industry this year by looking at the list below.

Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most well-known actors of all time and is referred to as the Shahenshah of Bollywood. He has demonstrated time and time again that age is no barrier to giving outstanding performances on screen during a career spanning more than 50 years. The actor, in the age of 80, has had a memorable year in 2022. This year alone, he appeared in five Bollywood movies: Jhund, Runway 34, Brahmastra, Goodbye, and Uunchai. Brahmastra stood out among them, earning more than Rs 400 crore worldwide thanks to its outstanding performance at the box-office. Goodbye and Uunchai have also managed to perform well at the box-office in comparison to many movies this year, despite the presence of the Covid-19 pandemic. He undoubtedly made our list and serves as a source of inspiration for many.

SS Rajamouli

In his line of work as a director, Koduri Srisaila Sri Rajamouli, often known as SS Rajamouli, has proven time and time again how to craft a masterpiece. And his work is self-evident! For the 49-year-old director, this year is particularly significant because his movie RRR, in which Jr. NTR and Ram Charan play the lead roles, is currently vying for an Oscar in 2023. Under the "For your consideration (FYC)" campaign, the RRR creators have submitted suggestions for 14 categories. In supporting roles, this movie also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. Because of his track record of producing masterpieces like Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2, his film RRR has been a box-office success.

Ajay Devgn

For Ajay Devgn and his supporters, 2022 has been a memorable year. Devgn's work in the 2020 movie "Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior" earned him the National Award for Best Actor this year. For those who are unaware, the Government of India gives out National Film Awards. However, this year has been particularly memorable for the 53-year-old actor because six of his films have been made available for general viewing, five of which had theatrical releases. With Rudra on Disney Plus Hotstar in 2022, Devgn made his OTT debut.

Following this, five of his films—Runway 34, Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR, Thank God, and his most recent film, Drishyam 2—entered theatres. Drishyam 2 has been released on 18th November,2022.

Ayan Mukerji

Director Ayan Mukerji, who is only 39 years old, has undoubtedly worked some magic with his films. He was the director of Brahmastra, the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2022 with a worldwide total of nearly Rs 400 crore. It's interesting to note that he has only ever directed three movies: Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and his most recent effort, Brahmastra. These three movies were all huge box-office successes. It is important to note that his closest friend Ranbir Kapoor played the lead in each of these three movies. Ayan should undoubtedly be included in this list.

Yash

Without mentioning the name of Naveen Kumar Gowda, better known by his stage name as Yash, and his powerful performance in the movie KGF: Chapter 2, 2022 would be incomplete. With Yash playing the protagonist part and Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, and Srinidhi Shetty filling out the supporting cast, this movie is directed by Prashanth Neel. KGF Chapter 2 shattered box office records everywhere it went after its April 14 release and amassed over Rs 1200 crores worldwide.

Kartik Aaryan

The year 2022 has undoubtedly been a memorable one for Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, age 31. His comedy-horror film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 took the second slot and made its debut in the list of the top-grossing Bollywood movies of 2022, after Brahmastra. He will next be seen in the thriller Freddy by Shashanka Ghosh.
