The late Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan deserves all the praise and adulation in the world. The great actor has given us a slew of brilliant films to watch, including ‘Life...in a Metro’ and ‘Piku’. While he has directed numerous successful films, one that stands out is ‘The Lunchbox’, which also starred Nimrat Kaur. Recently, the film celebrated its tenth anniversary, and Irrfan's wife Sutapa Sikdar shared a throwback photo of the actor with a sweet statement.
Sutapa Sikdar posted a note on Instagram with a photo of the actor as ‘The Lunchbox’ celebrated its tenth anniversary. She stated that seeing the billboard with Irrfan opening the lunchbox reminded her of their "smirk” and "phir se aalu baingan hai re kaisi ulzhan"!! their iconic phrase that they used in college, as well as the actor's real-life relationship with lunchboxes.

Sutapa reminisced about Irrfan's upbringing, saying, "Irrfan went to a school called St.Paul in Jaipur("English medium" because of his mother as she insisted though his father didn't see the necessity.) and apparently everyone got white bread sandwiches (brown bread was not yet in) and fancy jam rolls, etc., while Irrfan got paranthas made by Ammi and hated it and dreaded opening the lunch box at school in an inferiority complex induced by this perception as if sandwiches were an emblem of upper class. Years later, he despised his children eating bread for breakfast." Years later, no one could have predicted that a lunchbox would become legendary in his work and improve his life personally, and she said, "All childhood trauma gone."

Notably, actress Konkona Sensharma responded to the article with, "So beautiful, thanks for sharing with us," to which Sutapa responded, "thanks for reading the long post."

She noted that the notes in ‘The Lunchbox’ reminded her of putting notes in her children's tiffin boxes and how happy they would be. Irrfan cheered as well, for he had never felt this way from his mother, and her techniques of pouring love was not what young Irrfan had imagined. "He couldn't show it to the world, so he would carefully open the lunch box, trying to normalize the excitement kind of expression while reading the notes from Nimrat in the lunch box," she explained in her post.
