It was reported a few months ago that Mouni Roy, Harshvardhan Rane, and Meezan Jaaferi will act in a football film directed by Sanjay Gupta. Gupta is known for films such as Shootout at Wadala (2013), Kaabil (2017), and Mumbai Saga (2021). The latest news on the project is that, while Malaal (2019) actor, Meezan and Harshvardhan will continue to star in the sports film Miranda Boys, the director isn't satisfied with the choice of leading lady Mouni Roy.
According to a source close to Gupta, the director is unsure about casting Mouni Roy opposite Harshvardhan Rane in the project. Though the filmmaker approached Mouni and signed her for the project at first, the producers are now looking for another actress to sign opposite Harshvardhan. Mouni is not on board yet by Gupta's team, and she hasn't even been informed that they are looking for a replacement.
Miranda Boys is based on a football story. It will be interesting to see Harshvardhan and Meezan in a sporting avatar, which has yet to be explored. While Meezan Jaaferi is a member of the all-stars Football Club, Harshvardhan Rane has only lately taken up the sport. Every day, he practices with his coach.
For both director Sanjay Gupta and both actors, the genre is radically different. The film will begin shooting in Goa in mid-March.
Meanwhile, Mouni is looking forward to the release of Brahmastra, in which she will share the screen for the first time with Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna Akkineni will also play important roles in the fantasy drama.
