Unperturbed by the debacle of his recent releases Samrat Prithviraj and Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar is now looking forward to the release of his upcoming film Cuttputlli, whose trailer was launched on Saturday.

The film also features Rakul Preet Singh, Sargun Mehta and Chandrachur Singh in pivotal roles. During the media interaction, Akshay also opened up about the debacle of Hindi films at box office.

While many have maintained that the boycott trend and hate campaigns against Bollywood films have led to poor box office performances, Akshay stated that said that he now wants to understand what the viewers want.

"Films are not working, it is our fault, my fault. I have to make changes, understand what the audience wants and there is nobody else to be blamed for it but me," the superstar said.

Now coming to Cuttputlli, the film has been helmed by director Ranjit Tewari. Earlier reportedly titled Mission Cinderella, the film has been extensively shot in the UK and Mussoorie town in Uttarakhand.

A psychological crime thriller, Cuttputlli is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh. A remake of the 2018 Tamil film Ratsasan, it will directly premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on 2 September 2022.
