Diwali is the most auspicious time of the year and with the holidays a number of films hit the theatres at this time. And this time we’ll see a major clash on the silver screens. It is going to be two of the biggest action heroes of Bollywood which are Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn. Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn’s Thank God will be released in theatres on October 25. Although both movies were marketed as family entertainment, Ram Setu appears to have outperformed Thank God in advance booking sales.
Akshay Kumar’s fourth release this year
Ram Setu, which is being directed by Abhishek Sharma, will be Akshay Kumar's fourth theatrical release of the year. Bachchhan Paandey, Prithviraj, and Raksha Bandhan were all commercial failures. Cuttputtli, the actor's OTT release, also received negative initial reviews. The fact that Sidharth Malhotra's comedy picture Thank God and Akshay Kumar's latest feature Ram Setu will compete at the box office is undisturbed by Akshay Kumar, who maintains that two films opening on the same day should not be referred to as "clashes."
Akshay on the clash with Ajay’s Thank God
Both of the Diwali releases would find their audience, Akshay said in an interview before the movie's release. He further added, “No clash exists. Don't call it that, please. Two films, each appealing to a different audience, are being released on the same day. Both in the past and in the future, it has occurred. Fans will pick the one they think will appeal to them the most, or even better, they'll watch both. The major goal is for our supporters to take in the festival in the theatre with friends and family. The history and culture of India are deeply ingrained in Ram Setu. On the factual side, the team has drawn upon extensive research to reflect what is real and reveal a number of previously undiscovered truths. On the spiritual and sentimental front, we have not only stayed respectful of one another's feelings, but I can promise you that the principles and values are upheld.”
