After Aishwarya wed Abhishek in 2007, she joined the Bachchan family. Since then, there has been a great deal of interest in the relationship between Bachchan and the Bachchan’s bahu. When Jaya Bachchan appeared on Karan Johar's talk programme 'Koffee With Karan' in the past, the director asked her about her daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Aishwarya and Amitabh Bachchan's relationship was detailed by Jaya.

The actress claimed that when the seasoned celebrity first noticed Aishwarya, it appeared as though he was staring at Shweta. She said, "His eyes light up. She’ll fill the vacuum that Shweta left," adding that the family was never able to get used to not having Shweta around following her marriage.
In the same show, Jaya Bachchan enthused about how nicely Aishwarya blended in despite being a celebrity.
"She is lovely, I love her," Jaya Bachchan said. She also added that Aishwarya is a powerful woman with a lot of dignity.
The Bachchan's don't engage in gossip and have kept their private lives very quiet. A decade or so before Abhishek Bachchan wed Aishwarya, Shweta Bachchan married Nikhil Nanda in 1997. Shweta Bachchan has two childrens Agastya Nanda and Navya Naveli Nanda. Aaradhya Bachchan is the daughter of Abhishek and Aishwarya, who have been married for 16 years.
In a previous interview, Jaya Bachchan admitted to not engaging in behind-Aishwarya's-back chatter. The seasoned actress told Rediff that Aishwarya is her friend and that she will be direct with her if there is something she doesn't like about her. Aishwarya will be vocal if she disagrees with it.
