Karan Johar reveals hid ideal cast for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai remake
One of the most nostalgic and binge-worthy Bollywood movies is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released in 1998, directed by Karan Johar. The Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji-starrer is still a fan favourite after more than 20 years of its release. Karan recently shared which actors he would like to replace Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji in his film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai if it were to be remade today.
In a recent interview, when Karan was asked to name actors who could play the movie's iconic characters in a remake, he responded, “I would say Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor. Alia would play Kajol’s role, Janhvi would play the hottie role - Rani from college - and Ranveer would be Shah Rukh.”
In 1998, Johar made his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Shah Rukh, who portrayed Rahul, the college sweetheart, Kajol, who played Anjali, and their friend Tina, also Rahul’s love interest, played by Rani, were all involved in a love triangle in the popular film. At the 1999 Filmfare Awards, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai took home the Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress awards.
On the professional front, Karan Johar is currently working on Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film is slated to release in February 2023.The 1998 film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai marked Karan Johar’s directorial debut and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji.
