The movie wasn't released until after Christmas, when it was supposed to, which was smart. Merry Christmas was supposed to come out after 'Animal,' but it kept getting pushed back. Originally scheduled to clash with Sidharth Malhotra's 'Yodha' on December 8, both movies were pushed back to avoid clashing with Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal,' which came out on December 1.

'Merry Christmas' was produced by Ramesh and Jaya Taurani, Sanjay Routray, and Kewal Garg. It was a group effort under the names of Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures.
