Kiara Advani calls Kabir Singh's slap scene 'blown out of proportion’; defends the film

Kiara Advani, who is riding high on the success of her back-to-back films, admitted that Kabir Singh (2019) was a crucial milestone in her career, despite the fact that she remembers facing a great deal of backlash and criticism following the film's release. The actor continued to defend Preeti, the character she played in the movie, saying, "That's what love does to one."

In a recent interview, the Jugjugg Jeeyo (2022) actress said, “There was a lot of love coming in after the release. But there was this one side that was questioning a lot of important things about the film as well.”

When addressing how viewers concentrate on only one scene in a film, Advani noted, “As for Preeti, after that slap in the movie she leaves him (Kabir) you don’t see that, you forget about that. The fact that she went back to him, had a few sections of people saying ‘oh she shouldn’t have gone back’. But I feel that this is what made heart at the end and that’s what love does. Although at the end of the day it’s just a film and just a story.”

It was Vijay Devarakonda's Arjun Reddy (2017) that was remade as Kabir Singh. The portrayal of Kabir and Preeti in the film, in which Shahid Kapoor also featured, received mixed reactions from critics.
