KK, also known as Krishnakumar Kunnath, was a prominent singer who died on Tuesday night at the age of 53. While performing at a concert in Kolkata, the singer fell ill and was taken to the CMRI hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The singer's untimely death devastated his fans and colleagues in the entertainment world, and his passing sparked tributes from across the political spectrum in the country.
Many personalities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, and Virat Kohli, as well as members of the music industry such as Sonu Nigam, Shaan, and Vishal Dadlani, expressed their grief and sorrow.
Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of Bengal, has also announced a gun salute for the artist. Mamata Banerjee's government will pay tribute to the departed singer at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata, according to reports. A source revealed, "Gun salute will not be given at the airport, it will be given in Rabindra Sadan as the post-mortem is still going on. We have consulted with the family; they have a 5.15 pm flight so we will pay respect there: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on the demise of singer #KK."
Mamata Banerjee also expressed her grief at the death of the popular singer on Twitter. She wrote, "The sudden and untimely demise of the Bollywood playback singer KK shocks and saddens us. My colleagues have been working since last night to ensure that all requisite support is given for necessary formalities, his rites, and to his family now. My deep condolences."
