Vicky Kaushal appeared on season seven of Koffee with Karan, sitting next to Sidharth Malhotra on the couch. Along with discussing his marriage to Katrina Kaif, the actor was also honest about how the pandemic forced him to put his two biggest projects, Takht and The Immortal Ashwatthama, on hold.
Vicky Kaushal was questioned by Karan Johar about the difficulties he encountered in his career with movies like Takht and Ashwatthama, which were postponed indefinitely for various reasons. In response, Vicky said,“I'll be very honest. When I got to know that Takht isn't happening because of Covid reasons, it wasn't so difficult because it had such genuine and logistical reasons. It wasn't emotionally that this is not working or that is not working. The project was in a great space but had a different time to come on floors."
He added, "I remember when it was Ashwatthama and I got a call saying that we are pulling a plug on the film for now, I called my trainer and said, 'Listen, let's hit the gym' and I told him to give the most difficult workout because I really wanted to vent it out. Because that is the film I really gave two years of my life to, in terms of prep and everything and we were really close to starting."
Jio Studios has stepped in to restore The Immortal Ashwatthama, it was disclosed in July. The movie is scheduled to begin production in May 2023 with Aditya Dhar back in the director's seat. Although there hasn't been a formal statement, the new producers apparently don't want Vicky to play the role.
