Lagaan: NOT Aamir Khan But ‘THIS’ Actor Was The FIRST CHOICE For ‘Bhuvan’s’ Role In The Film!

For Aamir Khan's fans, Bhuvan is and will always be Bhuvan, and they cannot envision anyone else in ‘Lagaan’. However, if reports are to be believed, Aamir was not the first choice for the film opposite Gracy Singh.

There was a period when Abhishek Bachchan was the leading candidate for the role of the movie; however, he turned down the offer.

Abhishek Bachchan declined the role in Ashutosh Gowariker’s film and said in an interview that he was an inappropriate choice for the part. " I was way too raw and young to shoulder a film as epic as ‘Lagaan’. Of course, I knew it was going to be huge. But I was just not ready to be part of it.”

We concur with Abhishek Bachchan when he says that Aamir Khan was the ideal choice for the part and that he is happy that he took it on. Abhishek has made significant progress and consistently displays his acting talent. Speaking of Junior Bachchan, he stated that he felt that every actor was meant to be in a particular movie and that he had no regrets about passing on ‘Lagaan’. In fact, he is embarrassed to discuss the films he passed on and didn't participate in.

The ‘Dasvi’ actor continued in the same interview, "I was way too raw and young to shoulder a film as epic as ‘Lagaan’. Of course, I knew it was going to be huge. But I was just not ready to be part of it."

We've given it some more thought, and we believe Abhishek would have done ‘Lagaan’ justice as well. Despite being 22 years old, people are still talking about the movie today. Ashutosh Gowariker unquestionably produced a masterpiece with ‘Lagaan’.

But did you initially know? Aamir Khan also disapproved of ‘Lagaan’, calling it a strange tale. "When I heard ‘Lagaan’, in five minutes of its narration, I rejected it. I was like it is a story of people who are not able to play ‘Lagaan’ as there are no rains and they play cricket with British people? I was like 'What a bizarre thought is this? I told Ashutosh, ‘This is a strange story. I told him to get me a different story’."
