Makers announce new release date for RRR; but there is a catch – deets inside!
When filmmaker SS Rajamouli and the team of RRR announced that the release of the much-anticipated film had been postponed due to the sudden surge in coronavirus cases, fans were utterly disappointed as they had been waiting for the film for over a year now.
The decision to hold the film’s release was taken keeping in mind the coronavirus restrictions that led many states to close theatres or operate at a cap of 50% occupancy. Since RRR is a mega-budgeted film, releasing it in such trying times would have incurred heavy losses for the makers.
But now that the number of coronavirus cases is on the decline all across the country, the makers have announced a new release date for the release for RRR, but there is a catch. The makers said in a statement that if COVID-19 cases go down and theatres resume operation at full occupancy, they are ready to release the film on March 18. Otherwise, the film will enter theatres on April 28.
Their statement read, "If the pandemic situation in the country gets better and all the theatres open up to operate at full capacity, we are ready to release the film on 18th March, 2022." Otherwise, RRR movie will release on 28th April, 2022!"
RRR, produced by Lyca Productions, stars Ram Charan, Jr., NTR, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt in important roles. It is being touted as one of the costliest films ever made in India.
