Media Company Files FIR Against Sanjay Dutt & Badshah
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and popular rapper and singer Badshah have landed themselves into a legal trouble with media giant Viacom 18. The media firm lodged an FIR against them along with 40 others. As per a report from India Today, the accusations levied against Badshah and Sanjay Dutt revolve around the promotion of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on the Fairplay online betting app. Today, Badshah confronted these allegations head-on during his appearance before the Maharashtra Cyber office.
Sanjay Dutt & Badshah In Legal Trouble:
The media powerhouse maintains a firm stance on its ownership of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for streaming IPL matches. Yet, the matches were allegedly live-streamed on the betting app, with the involvement of several notable personalities endorsing the tournament. Consequently, this has resulted in a digital piracy case, potentially leading to the summoning of more individuals for their involvement in the matter.

For those unfamiliar with the intricacies of the issue, Fairplay is linked to the Mahadev app, promoted by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal. Simultaneously, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is delving into potential money laundering aspects associated with the said application. Initially, the investigation brought to light the names of various Bollywood figures, including Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Kapil Sharma, and Shraddha Kapoor, among others.
Recent disclosures by the media conglomerate indicate a startling Rs 112 crore allegedly transferred through hawala channels to an event management firm, intensifying the ongoing investigation.
